I ordered this drink at Starbucks a few weeks ago and it was so delicious that I had to recreate it. It’s pretty simple but the Matcha Green Tea powder is a little pricey. My friend, Ashley, might as well be a lobbyist for the Coconut Milk Association because she’s a lover of it and a non-lover of dairy. She says, “Ladies, dairy is NOT our friend” so I try to take her advice when I’m feeling extra motivated to be healthier. I just got back from a gluttonous vacation filled with food, wine, cocktails, cakes, cookies, etc., so I’m especially motivated this week to get back to my routine. Anyway, you can use whatever milk you want to use…almond, coconut, cow, cashew, etc., but I’ve only tried it with coconut because if it “ain’t broke then don’t fix it”.
- 2 teaspoons of Matcha Green Tea
- 1/8 cup of sugar or agave or sugar of choice (I use regular white sugar)
- 1 cup Sweetened or Unsweetened Coconut Milk (I prefer sweetened)
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add sugar, matcha green tea, and coconut milk (or milk of choice). Put lid on the cocktail shaker and SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE like a polaroid picture. Shake at least 45 seconds to make sure the concentrated green tea powder is dissolved. It doesn’t taste good when you sip on tiny bits of concentrated green tea bit—- trust me—-that’s the reason for the shaker. Pour the shaken drink into a glass and off you go! You have an awesome caffeine drink to start your day on a hot summer morning.
Here are a few pictures to illustrate how to make this delicious drink:
